A Love letter to USA
Well... Hi :3
Long time no see. Too long...
I know our relationship wasn't the best. Sometimes I found myself asking a question: "What went wrong?"
You know, we were in love before you cut me of. You practically declared a war to us, and burned lots of our stuff. (Well mostly my stuff but don't worry, I forgave that <3)
We both were idiots.
But I changed.
After some time I found my feelings again.
So do you want to see me again and maybe then get together again?
So I ask you, can you change?
Can you be a my bff and even... more ?
I simply ask you to be these things.
Think about it.

- Spoiler:
- Economy:
* Insert a Progressive tax system. Its handiness has been showed in Scandinavia, Canada and the Netherlands. It helps very much of installing a good welfare system.
* Make a welfare system, Dutch style. Private insurance companies with some basic insurance laws can help majorly, as shown in the Netherlands
* Demolish the ghettos in the city and replace it with social housing, like this.
* Social security for every unemployed family, after 6 months the father (head of family, can be female too) has to got a job, if not:
* Compulsory Goverment Work, administrative work for the army, police, etc. Or as a janitor in a public school, go on.
Social:
* Every family has to be insured compulsory with a basic package, includes: dentist, hospital visits and treatment and free medicins (not all, only the basics once made by the doctor)
* Stop selling weapons by private companies, only by goverment gun shops. After that, ban firearms. (atleast handguns)
Political:
* Give more chances to smaller parties (eg: Libertarian, Social Democratic America).
Foreign policy:
* Retreat alot from the army from Afghanistan, but not all. Leave around 1,000-2,000 soldiers there and make it a 'build' mission instead of a 'war on terror'. Build schools, houses, infrastructure and actually help the population instead of driving with tanks over a car.
* Its their country, if they don't want you there, leave. No democracy there then.
* Decentralise NATO, give the European countries more power in NATO
* Stop being a world police.
* No more fighting missions but building missions, like stating before.

Literally nothing in this post is actually useful.

Some ideas are not half bad, but yeah... ain't gonna happen.
Most of USA still fears communism like kryptonite (can't say I blame them though, given the cold war), and since many of your ideas are socialist in their base, meaning they probably won't be realized.

Re: A Love letter to USA
Our Congress is too corrupt to go for anything that would actually tax big business. However, this would be fine in the government were small, but then the government workers themselves wouldn't get paid just to sit around and talk. Right now our representatives are having their cake (bribes) and eating it too (increased government activity).
Also, do you know how much it takes to competitively run for congress or the senate? Over a million dollars, EASY. So it's no wonder that people in the states aren't being taken care of because well.. our representatives have no idea what happens on the lower levels. None of this will work. Our foreign policy is one of business, not tradition or safety. It'd be harder to collect all that oil if we didn't have troops there.

American English to English
Socialism = Welfare
Whats wrong with those ideas? I mean except socialism (which actually would be the best thing ever if someone makes it work.)
edit: your politicians surely suck

Welfare by itself is not a bad system. In fact, if done properly there would be no loss in profits at all. However, if deemed necessary, congress can and has many times before dipped into the welfare funds and used that money for militarism projects. Now we're in a hole where unless we pull out of the world, welfare need to go.Smippa wrote:American English to English

One method of fixing this is to take welfare away from the government and let a free market take place. Capitalism works as long as you have MINOR government intervention. When should the government interfere? According to Adam Smith, only when monopolies are around. But now we know that government has to regulate a few more things like necessary utilities (energy), and provide a cushion for those in poverty.

Re: A Love letter to USA
Here's what's happening, we don't NEED money at all. We want money because that puts us in a better place. We can cut a trillion dollars worth of debt in a year under a strict conservative Congress and balance it in four. But what would happen if we did that all at once? Basically over 90 countries in the world would collapse. That's right, that's how reliant the world is on America helping them take care of business.Smippa wrote:Justin Bieber wrote:Now we're in a hole where unless we pull out of the world, welfare need to go.

Troops are not stationed in areas to fight terrorism, they are stationed around oil fields and other natural resources that we need, and thus guarantee that those products get to us.
I'm not saying it's right, or even profitable. I want an economy when having something that says "Made in America" means highest quality. That's how we started out. We bought the best resources and made the best quality. We since shifted to a pure consumer nation which is obviously failing as our own companies are backing out.
Just next time you say "USA wants even MORE money" don't be so ignorant by thinking that any nation that does lend us money isn't benefiting from it themselves.

Re: A Love letter to USA
Look good for the work you've done here, but bottom line is every person in a country not happy with its "leaders" can have ideas and will want them to come true for the better of the people, but people with power dont care...
