You can have anything as your forum avatar. People mostly put pictures of things they like. Me, I put Sasuke because he's one of my favourite characters from Naruto. So all you need to do is find something that you like (Picture) and put it as your avatar. The only suggestions I can give you are... Movies, Anime, Objects or People (Actors/Actress), something like that. Remember you have to follow this rule for avatars.

Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width cannot exceed 120 pixels, the height cannot exceed 200 pixels, and the file size cannot be higher than 64 KB.

Actually it can be 150x300px and the file size is unlimited, as long as you upload it on external server, like Photobucket or Tinypic.

Well deepseabyrd, you can also put a funny quote as your avatar. Something that you may find humorous. A few users do that on occassion. But it is usually in their signature.
