A pretty cool smudge I gotta say. I am 0 with GFX so I can't tell you anything helpful. Perhaps, some good GFXers like Dew will provide you with constructive criticism. Keep this up!

I am not that good as well but I will say what I can. I am quite lovin' this style of yours.
You need to work on lighting, depth and a little on blending, generally. Let me explain. Blending is to make the render like it's in the background, I mean the same atmosphere, this could be done using adjustment layers. In the lighting, there always must be a light source, the source of light in tags, sometimes it's flames, and sometimes you have to make one using the soft brush, and sometime it's other things like lens flare...etc. Depth is... hard to explain...Just check this out for everything: http://dawnstormgraphics.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/zenronguide.jpg

^That's in general, cause I checked out your DA and I saw what ya had.
V1: In this tag, the flow is nice, text and it's placement are good as well. But it needs depth and moar work on de lighting. Also the smudging would look much better if you smudged out a bit of the render, this would also help the blending. Needs a bit more blending as well. De border are too big, a 1/2 pixel should be moar than enough. This version is your better one.

@V2: The light source is available here but on the wrong place, right on his head, need to move moar to the left and need to be blended more. This version look kinda empty.
