Well, yeah since originaly lf2 wasnt made by ntsd BUT if they talk to marti and starski and give um like 30% well it could turn out well.

It's true what he says, I know that modding LF2 can become boring as hell with time...

Yea...but think it like this:
-The team makes a new update.
-1 guy pays 1$ for it.
-That guy uploads the release at a random hosting site.
-Other people download it for free.
-The team earns precisely 1$.

I bet that 1$ something like this would happen.

Yeah, the team earns 1$...and there are roughly 20 members in ROOT.
That makes 5 cents for each one of them...nice thumbs up

Why go through all the trouble and then have people pirating your game...

This idea would never fly on any forum, not just this one. A fan-made game making money and asking the members who joined the site to pay the team to keep it going? NEVER going to happen.

It happens all of the time idget. Not just with fan-made games either, but other media aswell such as web cartoons, comics, ect.

The thing is though, Naruto is a copyrighted franchise. As such if any money we're to be made off of it, the team would be sue'd and NTSD shut down. In order for them to gain any profit "legally" they would need to first get permission from the current copyright holder.

publish a free limited version and then tell people that they will only have the full if they donate on paypal or something. its just donating so they wont sue. (only the forum member will get a free copy LOL)

Bribery won't work either. Half of the members here don't even have Paypal accounts, much less know how to use one. Another portion are too young and don't have credit cards to put the money in if a donation account was ever set up.

No no, you still don't get it. They can't accept donations. They can't earn /any/ money through /any/ means directly connected to NTSD. Thats why zxcv tossed the idea aside when it was first brought up.

Now, if this was a site that required monthly payments to keep up, then they COULD ask you to donate toward that. But it isn't.

You fail to understand the concept of whats "legal" and "illegal" don't you?

Sure, the team could go off and make up some lie to attempt to divert the attention from them gaining money off the game, but do you really think they're so desperate for money that they would actually do such a thing?
