Has anyone with android phone tried out the LF2 Pocket game from playstore? Has Marti given permission to make it on android? If so, then we can possibly make NTSD for android.

@4thHokage : LF2's data is purposefully non hidden, anyone who needs to make a modification of any sort to it, is free to. (except reverse engineering of the exe).
Also NTSD won't really be possible for android, as the android version is made from scratch (except sprites), there's no "conversion"..

We can mod the android game and make it similar to ntsd. We have the sprites ready and with a little bit of modding the data files of the android game, it should be possible.
Also the guy who made the game for android can earn money through ads. Since Lf2 is free, I think it's illegal.

And he CAN earn money since he's only using the available sprites and sounds for lf2.. he was developed everything on his own. But you can be right too. Either ways, there are many android remakes of lf2 and Marti n Starsky don't care.

Android development is hard, I have tried before. You have to edit a lot of things. Much attention is needed to make something simple work.

The game isn't even finished yet and I can't see NTSD being made into a cellphone game. It's bad enough that Injustice: Gods Among Us can be played through a tablet. Certain games just won't work on any other device other than the one it was made for. In this case, NTSD should stay as a PC game since the techniques are easier to execute. Also, who would go through the trouble of updating it regularly just so it stays up to par with the PC version?

With dedicated android devs, it is very much possible. The lf2 game on android isn't optimized properly, the coding is badly done. But it should be fixed in the future updates. Once the game gets completed properly it shouldn't take more than a month to get ntsd on phones, if we find good android devs that is.

Anyways, I was just suggesting it. With the current pace of development for pc, it shouldn't be much of a problem to keep the game updated.

It isn't hard to update an apk. Nor does someone have to update it that's on par with the new version of NTSD PC.

But how do you think the gameplay will feel like with the four movement keys + Attack, jump, defend on a small touch screen? It won't exactly be some competitive games there.

Most games has less than that. Yet its still fun. Console emulators (like SNES, Genesis, etc) on android are pretty fun you know...

Not every game feels as fluid on a phone as it does when it was made for that handheld or console. As far as finding developers (which you will have to pay for their services), let's save that for later and focus on the current game at hand. The game still needs more people working on it and since that hasn't happened or may never happen, we can scratch the idea of an Android version of this.

I say, if we ARE thinking of making an android game, we can start from scratch and create a better system and engine suitable for handheld touchscreen gaming? why stick to LF2?

That's a point I am trying to make. I'm not saying everyone should get together and make an android version right now. There will be a time when the LF2 engine WILL be insufficient! Maybe making a custom made engine where everything can be done what the developers had in their vision wouldn't be such a bad thing. An engine where coding for an object (say, a character) is relatively easy and fast. It has been done, years ago, so I know it's possible. Get a team that will create the engine while the other team works with the LF2 engine. And when the time comes when the engine is complete, do the conversion. It's not a hard thing to do. It will be long, but not hard. Though, in my view, it would be a lot faster than the speed we have. The only hard part is finding a team that will be dedicated to the project and not bail out two or three weeks later or perhaps a month later~~, or whom will have nothing better to do in their lives~~.
