At Hakugyokurou, silence was deep. Everyone knew, that soon they will have to fight to kill. After all the battle suits arrived, the army gathered at the festival stage.
Me: We have performed intelligence while you were getting used to your new armor, and
we have news. It seems that the enemy wants an old-fashioned, force-match
battle. With our new suits, we do possess the power to overwhelm them by brute
force, but! We won't do it. The best thing we can do now is to not act towards enemy’s
intentions. So, we would first perform reconnaissance, and then begin
operating. We won't engage in force fights - our strategy will be more
developed than that. Reimu Hakurei, the Gensokyou's Shrine Maiden, will explain
it to you while we will head out to scout.
I have walked down from the stage, and Reimu took my place. She started teaching the
others about our new tactics, while me, Yukari, and our specialist, Rinnosuke Morichika, took place in Yukari's mech.
A mech specially designed for movement through interdimensional Folds, received
special treatment from the constructors. Armed with a weapon capable of
Boundary manipulation, it could open Folds in all directions. Additionally, the
panels were forged in the interdimensional space, with the material losing all
the properties of the real world - in other worlds, it doesn't exist in this
world, and nothing could detect it, making its appearance as unpredictable as
Yukari's. That mech, as all others, was a giant mechanized version of it's user.
After we took place in it's cockpit, which was itself a large room in the hull, Yukari has opened the Fold.
Me: Don't emerge from the interdimentional space, Yukari. We will open a small
enough hole, a few inches in diameter, only so that we can see through it, and
so that Rinnosuke can work.
After a minute of movement through complete nothing, Yukari stopped. She pointed her
umbrella towards the darkness, and the mech copied the movement. We saw a small
round hole right before our eyes – stars were shining inside, and a giant mech army was in movement.
Me: Rinnosuke, please step forward and tell us everything you can about their forces. We will move and zoom the optics as you please.
Rinnosuke: I’ll see what I can do.
He stepped forward, and took a small lens out of his pouch. Rinnosuke raised it
before his face, and let it go – the lens stayed floating before his eye. He
closed his eyes, and then opened them again, browsing the enemy’s forces.
Rinnosuke: All right, let me begin. Their army uses large army suits on every unit,
similar to us, but not as advanced. The main force consists of mass-produced
mechs, armed with mostly firearms, and protected by two shield types. Those are
physical shields and something like Japanese omamori – a basic protection from
magic attacks. It seems they prepare to counter our magical force, but
considering the improvement in power that we gain using our own mechs, those “magic
shields” would survive only once, as normal omamori do – omamori protect you
from curses, but when someone curses you, you have to change your omamori. I
suggest wide attacks that would take down many shields at once, although those
units are not that much of a problem even if we fight them normally, since they
are mere humans who lack battle experience compared to our girls, who had
centuries to improve themselves. But I also see unusual units there – there are
eight of them, including the commander’s unit. They seem to have completely
different roles, much better shields, personal weapons, and are much more
powerful than the normal ones.

be the main physical attack deflector.
The second one, in turn, has armor in Asian style, carrying two personal weapons –
a flat spear and a naginata. His armor seems to be reinforced with every single
occult item they could find – he has hundreds of omamori under his plates, and
other charms all over the frame. His shield seems to be expandable, and so he
is expected to be the main magic attack blocker.
The next one is a stealth unit, painted black and gold – I accidentally found him with
my lens while searching through the space. His defenses are pretty much weak,
but he is mounted with speed enhancement modules and cloaking devices, carrying
two katana-like swords. A surprise attacker – we will need to watch him at all time.
The next two are just normal improved mechs – slightly better shields, better speed and
overall performance, but otherwise nothing special. They seem to be officers,
one carrying a set of firearms, and the other one armed with melee weapons. They
are really secondary, since they represent no real tactical threat.
Another one is bigger than the others – not only it has reinforced shields, he also has
enormously think armor plates, and huge amounts of weaponry with him. Although
he is not very mobile, so he couldn’t escape if we pursue him. That’s why he is
staying behind the forces as a fire support.

three-stage ritual of gate opening. They seem to attempt to breach the Boundary
of the Netherworld. He is a very unrefined arcane mage – all I can see he is
capable of is some simple types of arcane magic – fireballs, lightnings,
short-range teleportation, etc. The mech seems to be constructed to add an area
of effect to his attacks, and amplify his magic in a similar way to our magic
amplificators – although their technology is on very early stages of developing
magic weapons and protection, they enhanced him with a huge amount of those. I
can see a few dozen of them all over the frame. His magic is unrefined though,
but that’s actually a very decent level for a human who hasn’t such a long life
to study magical arts. Patchouli would be pleased to know she has an opponent
in arcane arts.
And finally, the Commander’s mech. It’s a combination of every mech out there –
armed with both a melee weapon and a firearm, it has slightly improved
shielding and movement systems, making it more agile and competent. Also, I see
that the user uses optical mind control powers, similar to Reisen’s – his powers
have a limit though, and he needs direct eye-to-eye contact to use them. All we
need to counter that is to avoid visual contacts with the user himself.
So that is all. Do you have any new ideas, Leader?

showed signs of deformation, was the ugly red hexagram with three rough signs. As
Reimu’s seal reached the sphere, the golden scripture swelled with soothing
light, and the deformation was restored. The red hexagram remained – looks like
their mage didn’t understand what did just happen, and was still trying to breach the Boundary.

my Boundaries. That man is a brute – I shall have a small talk with him in

While we were examining the glowing scripture of the Netherworld's Boundary, suddenly, a mech appeared behind the hexagram. Wait, what? It's the commander's mech?! What the hell is he doing, looking at us from the interdimensional space like we can't see him? Or maybe... oh, I see. The Boundary is invisible to him. As expected from an average human, having no connection to magic. Rinnosuke described his powers as "acheived by an incident"... I see - their Commander has no magical training. Catch the moment, catch the moment now!
Me: Rinnosuke, quick, this is the Commander mech, right?
Rinnosuke: Oh yeah, but it's modified with some kind of a weapon teleportation system and a... speed amplifier? Yes, those blue wings are used to manipulate electric waves to significantly decrease the density of space around the user, allowing him to act much faster than others - the effect is so great, they may perceive it as a time stopper.
Me: We must act now, while he thinks he is safe! Capture team will consist of Yukari carrying Rinnosuke, Sakuya, Reimu, Youmu, Kanako and Keine - launch into interdimensional space on my signal!
(turning towards my army) Me: So it began, my friends! The enemy's Commander is knocking at our doors without any sense of safety, and we will strike at him now! Wish your fellows luck - today we shall be victorious! Launch into the heavens and make them feel the fire of your hearts! GO~!!
As the girls disappeared in the Fold created by Yukari, I used the radio.
Me: What do you see?
Yukari: Those rough hexagrams forming a tunnel, and their commander. He's unguarded. Shall we attack?
Me: No! Isolate the interdimentional space so that he would get locked in there - time to put an end to those gates penetrating our Boundary.
Yuyuko raised her umbrella and swinged it at the darkness, in which the tube marked by three coloured hexagrams floated. The tube wavered, and then collapsed - the hexagrams collapsed into themselves, like sheets of paper being crushed. Sitting on the side of Yuyuko's mech unit, I saw it through the optical transmission. The round door into the normal dimension closed - we managed to see the army through it. Once again, our forces were left in the darkness.
Me: Rinnosuke, how much time will they need to redo the gate ritual?
Rinnosuke: They started it yesterday, so they will need another day to do it I suppose.
Me: Great. So their leader is trapped now. Hold back from engaging for now, we shall have a small talk with him. Kanako, create a sky patch between your group and his mech, so he could hear us. Switch me on the speakers.
Kanako's mech raised it's hands, and the darkness got split by a bright skyblue patch, held in shape by her power.
I coughed a bit, and then took up the radio.
((Entering talking mode - we will exchange posts talking to each other now, until we finish talking))
Me: Hello again, Kentaru. So you thought you could break into our world with rough power that easily... Well, everyone makes mistakes time to time. You have no place to run now - your mage won't manage another gate so fast, and you can't go through dimensions with this mech. You are cornered - we have Sakuya with time control powers, and Reimu with sealing and protection. If you try to fight, you will die like a fool. Now, let me hear your last words - I hope you have something to say before surrendering. Yes, those blue wings are used to manipulate electric waves to significantly decrease the density of space around the user, allowing him to act much faster than others - the effect is so great, they may perceive it as a time stopper.
Me: We must act now, while he thinks he is safe! Capture team will consist of Yukari carrying Rinnosuke, Sakuya, Reimu, Youmu, Kanako and Keine - launch into interdimensional space on my signal!
(turning towards my army) Me: So it began, my friends! The enemy's Commander is knocking at our doors without any sense of safety, and we will strike at him now! Wish your fellows luck - today we shall be victorious! Launch into the heavens and make them feel the fire of your hearts! GO~!!
As the girls disappeared in the Fold created by Yukari, I used the radio.
Me: What do you see?
Yukari: Those rough hexagrams forming a tunnel, and their commander. He's unguarded. Shall we attack?
Me: No! Isolate the interdimentional space so that he would get locked in there - time to put an end to those gates penetrating our Boundary.
Yuyuko raised her umbrella and swinged it at the darkness, in which the tube marked by three coloured hexagrams floated. The tube wavered, and then collapsed - the hexagrams collapsed into themselves, like sheets of paper being crushed. Sitting on the side of Yuyuko's mech unit, I saw it through the optical transmission. The round door into the normal dimension closed - we managed to see the army through it. Once again, our forces were left in the darkness.
Me: Rinnosuke, how much time will they need to redo the gate ritual?
Rinnosuke: They started it yesterday, so they will need another day to do it I suppose.
Me: Great. So their leader is trapped now. Hold back from engaging for now, we shall have a small talk with him. Kanako, create a sky patch between your group and his mech, so he could hear us. Switch me on the speakers.
Kanako's mech raised it's hands, and the darkness got split by a bright skyblue patch, held in shape by her power.
I coughed a bit, and then took up the radio.
((Entering talking mode - we will exchange posts talking to each other now, until we finish talking))
Me: Hello again, Kentaru. So you thought you could break into our world with rough power that easily... Well, everyone makes mistakes time to time. You have no place to run now - your mage won't manage another gate so fast, and you can't go through dimensions with this mech. You are cornered - we have Sakuya with time control powers, and Reimu with sealing and protection. If you try to fight, you will die like a fool. Now, let me hear your last words - I hope you have something to say before surrendering. Me: You think I am a fool? Hahaha. You have underestimated me and now you will suffer. You actions were easily predictable you think I didn't know you'd aim for the dimensional barriers to stop me from running.
Watari: Sir you were correct, If it wasn't for your prediction the barriers would of been crushed. Restoring Magnetic fields to 100% Lining barriers at 2%, It will take me only minuets sir. I am restoring the dimensional hold.
Me:Shit... They actually managed to get the barriers down to 2%... I underestimated you eredale it is a mistake that wont happen again.

Me: Lukereal I need you to use a magical scan at 50% density search the area for any disruptions and enemies. Raike and Yoshiri I need you both to attack anything thing that moves don't draw your blades yet keep you back pannles open so I can use you as an easy electrical output for teleportation.

Me: Oh my... you have to be so self-confident, now that you showed off your time-stopping power only to teleport closer to Yukari's mech... but you forgot something - every single one of my girls are more than experts in dodging everything. Cennturies of fighting each other, they can easily dodge a point-blank blade slash or a rifle shot... or a whole barrage of those shots coming from all directions - I'll show you photos of those later. Okay girls, it seems they want it the hard way - let them have it. Defending-trap strategy.
In a blink of an eye, Youmu's mech appeared before the stealth unit, and in a single blade swing, he and his katanas were thrown away from Yukari.
Youmu's mech was a bit special - she had to float inside it, not stand, since she used extreme high-speed movements, and if she moved inside, she'd ram into the cockpit. Youmu's spiritual part moved after the stealth mech and attached to it, flowing all over his body.
Youmu: You won't hide again - no matter how fast you are, your blades are inferior, and your movements are slower. I will defeat you with only Roukanken - you aren't worth unsheating both of my swords.
She sheathed the Hakurouken, and put her hand on the long blade's handle. In a blink of an eye, she was in the proximity of the enemy's stealth unit - unsheathing the Roukanken, she released an aerial tachikaze cutting wave and largening energy spheres, exploding into power bullets aimed at the black mech.
At the same time, Yukari, feeling that the back is safe, made a somersault, and flinged her weapon towards the other two enemies unveiled - the commander's mech shot the rifle, but it was too slow. Behing the enemies, a Fold appeared, and the next second it closed, sending them somewhere to the outside world. The commander discharged shot after shot after shot, but Yukari's mech dodged every single one - after all, to successfully hit someone from my army, much more than a simple rifle was needed.
The other three girls approached, with Reimu's mech leading the three.
Reimu's mech was, of course, buffed with ritual Shinto items - it was an all-out sealing and protection type mech.
Reimu quickly spawned four wide cards, and threw them towards the commander. The commnder dodged them, but they weren't supposed to hit - after they passed him, they stopped, and linked to each other, showing traces of glowing cyan scripture. Reimu quickly threw several more card charms, and when the commander's mech tried to dodge them, he touched the cyan scripture, stopping at the same place, unable to move.
Reimu: Dream sign - "Evil Sealing Circle"!
Instantly, a huge amount of charms emerged from her mech, surrounding the commander unit, making it completely sealed off, making him unable to move or use any unnatural power. Reimu's sealing powers were unmatched never before, and they are still the same.
Me: Finish them fast, but keep the commander alive yet disabled - you have only some minutes left, so make short work of those two!
Sakuya: We got them. We will handle the stealth unit, with Keine's help.
Sakuya and Keine turned themselves towards the battle scene of Youmu and the black mech. The stealth user was surprised to meet overwhelming resistance, and was already damaged by Youmu's initial attacks. He was playing defensive, and it seemed that the battle would last longer than needed.
Sakuya's mech was built in an unusual way. It needed several space morphing charms in it's hull, due to Sakuya's attack types, that are naturally wide range, and therefore, possible to damage the mech. Also, the mech uses very peculiar knives - they are attached to knobs imbued with summoning magic, and can easily be recalled when thrown. Also, a large arsenal of knives is stashed at the Construction Pits, and Sakuya can call them all into the battlefield. Additionally, the watck is actually a giant copy of the Scarlet Devil Mansion's clock, which makes it comfortable for Sakuya to use her time-space powers outside the mansion.
As the two approached the fighters, Sakuya dashed towards them. Youmu saw that, and, unsheathing the second sword, locked the enemy's blades with her own. Keine came far from the black's behind, and Sakuya declared her card.
Sakuya: Time Sign - "Private Square".
The time has stopped in the small area around the fighters. Sakuya quickly moved around the black mech, throwing knives at him from all directions, that froze as they enetered the area of frozen time. After the knive count reached atleast a hundred, making the move completely undodgeable, Sakuya stopped, and Keine came. Sakuya pressed the button on her watch, and the time went on. The black mech got hit by numerous knives, with other knives blocking his movement, and this moment Keine made her attack. Transforming her mech, she pierced the black one with her horns.
Keine: Everyone has history, and everyone exists with history. That's why you can't exist without one. I shall take your history, and destroy it. End of story.
The black mech started to glow with dim green light, and became transparent. The knives piercing him, fell through him, and Youmu sheathed her blades, as there was nothing to hold with them anymore. The black mech acted as a screen - all of his history was literally runnig through him, collapsing at the same time. After some seconds, it was over, and the mech dissipated to the natural elements he was made of - plain unrefined minerals and gases. Keine twisted her horns, and transformed back into her ordinary self.
Everyone came to the sealed Commander's mech.
Me: Rinnosuke, ETA on the gate opening?
Rinnosuke: 3 minutes,
Me: Yukari, put an end to it, please.
Yukari: With pleasure. That so-called magician is pissing me off messing with my Boundaries.
Yukari raised her weapon again and pointed it at the opening gate. She made some circles with it, and the interdimensional space twisted around it. It is a sight to behold, to see plain darkness twisting itself. Then, in two fast movements, she flailed her weapon up and down. In the center of the gate, a light ball appeared, with the edges of the gate continuing to twist.
Yukari: You think you can outpower MY Boundary when I AM here? Think again before you try that next time. This is my first serious attack.
Bounded Field - "Mesh of Light and Darkness"!
The two elements, the little light ball and the twisting darkness instantly collapsed into one another, crushing the gate, and then they exploded in dozens of light rays... and darkness rays? Either way, I never get tired of watching my girls fight.
Yukari: Even though you can't hear me now, I hope that hurt a lot.
The girls surrounded the Commander's mech.
Everyone: What shall we do with him now?
Me: Complete disable.
Youmu came forth, unsheathing one of her swords. She quickly cut off all the unnecessary mech's parts - that included every piece of weaponry, additional equipment, and...
Me: Hey hey HEY, what are you doing?!
Youmu: What? You said complete disable.
Me: *sigh* Okay... I hope his legs and arms didn't contain any vital systems... Now, come back here, and take him with you.
Reimu released the seal from the mech, and it started to dangle in the airless space like a big metal potato. Yukari opened a Fold, and the girls landed near us along with the wasted mech. The girls jumped out of their mechs and came to the hull.
Me: Avoid eye contact with him, it may result in mind control. Now cut him outta there.
Youmu took her blade (this time the normal one), and started cutting through the frame of the mech. Soon, she reached the cockpit, where he sat. Byakuren, standing near the frame, punched it, and he fell out.
Me: Reimu, seal his powers, quick!
Reimu quickly threw a card, and it attached to his head from behind, glowing with pleasant pink light. He raised his head, and looked at me. His eyes were normal - Geass was sealed.
